Save Ganga Save Himalaya is an important endeavor for humanity.
Our Mission is to protect the environmental and spiritual tradition of the Ganga and Himalaya.
The Ganga and Himalaya are entwined entities representing the greater Vedic tradition on earth. Two of the most revered spiritual manifestations on Earth, supporting the ultimate quest perennially, these Tirthas where High Beings have disseminated their energy are fundamentally irreplaceable and their profound symbolic significance is a gift to the whole of humanity.

Save Ganga Save Himalaya is a project and initiative under the Adhyatmik Foundation, a US based 501(c)3 non-profit foundation.  For this initiative, the Foundation has partnered with MC Mehta, renowned lawyer and successful environmental activist, to educate the public and ignite the spirit of protection and conservation of this earth that each of us kindles in our heart.

"The greatest service you can give to the world is to take responsibility for yourself, your relationships and your environment."
In this world we are experiencing an age when the search for truth, reverence for life, the ideal of non-attachment and readiness to serve without regard for personal advancement seem elusive, if not forgotten. True teachers and communicators appear from time to time - they are recognized by the way in which they live. Through their example they show others how they may live. The unique qualities, qualifications and living experience of His Holiness Sri Svami R.Anand Giri Purna, Acarya Mahamandalesvara (Dr Svami Purna) provide the knowledge and true insight that is becoming increasingly rare in today's world. His knowledge encompasses a spectrum of learning: a Master of Vedic Science, He is also a Doctor of Medicine, Psychology, Philosophy and Literature.

His teachings are based on the traditional Vedantic philosophy that embraces an understanding of Sanskrit, the Vedic texts, Ayurvedic health tradition, meditation and the practice of yoga as part of everyday life. Svamiji’s method and style are so easy to understand because of their accessibility and clarity. He blends his teachings on spirituality, compassion, harmony and humanity with established disciplines such as science, economics, sociology into an integrated and practical whole that offers real tools for a healthy, happy and fulfilled life, complete with spiritual understanding.

Born into a family of philosophers and rulers in India, and, having undergone the best education in India and Europe, Dr Svami Purna later renounced title and position, material wealth and comfort in pursuit of higher spiritual values through true experience. He willingly accepted a life of exceptional hardship and austerities, living among the caves, forests and snowy peaks of the Himalayas for many years. From this journey he emerged having acquired the 'Fullness of Wisdom' as one of the greatest spiritual leaders of our time.  His title, ‘purna’, a Sanskrit term meaning complete, reflects unique spiritual achievement in all its manifold aspects. His Holiness Sri Svami R. Anand Giri Purna, Acarya Mahamandalesvara was inspired to establish an organization to disseminate the message of responsibility for self and positivity in action through seva or service around the world for the benefit of humanity. WSS and its sister organisations were founded.

Svamiji’s Teachings, wisdom and knowledge apply to all and every being irrespective of belief, religion, faith,  origin or cultural background; the Teachings are truly universal

Dissemination of the Highest Knowledge is the most important work: all other projects and practical endeavours are by the way and ongoing. The aim is to bring the knowledge to enlighten the mind and heart of all people in all walks of life whatever their position or role so that they apply the knowledge to improve their functioning in life.

MC Mehta

“When our Mother Ganga is injured, our entire nation is hurt … Any disruption of the Ganga detracts from an international symbol of health, healing, revitalization and rebirth. More than a Hindu symbol or economic necessity, the Ganga is India’s best known monument to life.”
A lawyer by profession and a committed environmentalist by choice, he has made the fight to protect India’s environment his unending mission. He has pioneered legal activism for environmental protection and is proof that one man can make a difference.

Born on October 12, 1946 M.C. Mehta (Mahesh Chandra Mehta) belongs to a small village in district Rajouri in the State of Jammu & Kashmir (India). It was here that his love for nature, instilled in him a sense of commitment towards protecting the environment. In his childhood village, Dhangri, he was educated up through primary level.
Later, his higher education was a school at Rajouri. For few years he travelled from his village to school and back by crossing two rivers and about 15 km of distance everyday. After Rajouri he moved to Jammu and completed his Post Graduation in Political Science and Law. After receiving his Law degree from Jammu University he started his practice in there and in Kashmir High Court. During his stay in Jammu he took active part in social and political issues. He raised his voice against corruption and motivated students and youth to fight against discrimination taking place with the Jammu region. He remained President of The Youth Action Committee and pioneered the Social and Political causes. His career as a Supreme Court lawyer began in 1983, when he migrated to Delhi. In 1984, he began focusing on environmental litigation.

In the words of Ms Smita Gate “Often described as the One Man Enviro-legal Brigade, Mr Mehta is probably the only Supreme Court lawyer to have taken up legal cudgels with the polluting Indian Industries and come out victorious. A dedicated, fearless and extremely honest man, he pursues his goals with single-minded devotion. He has been conferred with several prestigious awards. Some of these are the Governor’s Gold Medal, the Goldman Environmental Prize, considered on alternative Noble Prize in USA and Europe, the UN’s Global 500 Award for 1993 and above all the Magsaysay Award for 1997.”
