DHARMA IN ESSENCE. DHARMA IN ACTION.
ECO ASHRAM
Marrying environmental activism with spiritual discipline, MC Mehta's Eco Ashram has offered courses for jurists, lawyers, environmentalists, educators, journalists, and other thought leaders to educate them about social justice, environmental law and sustainable development as well as water harvesting, organic farming and natural building. A primary goal of this collaborative initiative is to create a community of like-minded individuals who will apply higher positive principles to find solutions to environmental problems for the benefit of all beings. |
PURNA VEDIC UNIVERSITY
A visionary university where ancient wisdom is brought to life by scholars and experts who have chosen a life of service to humanity by sharing the great teachings of Vedic philosophy under the Guidance of HH Sri Svami Purna Ji Maharaj (Professor Dr Svami Purna). The Vedas, the bedrock of the Indo-Aryan civilization, comprise the most comprehensive holistic value system dealing with all aspects of life and nature. The curriculum will unfold the Vedic way of living in harmony with nature, establishing a foundation for living a full and complete life. Students will be taught in an open air setting “under the trees” as in traditional gurukulam style to further deepen the connection with nature and self. Learn More Here > |
AWARENESS
By spreading awareness about the preciousness of the Ganga and Himalaya, not only spiritually but environmentally as well, we can begin to enlist the help of more like-minded individuals to share the message and connect with those who feel inspired to help. It is only through awareness that individuals are empowered with the choice to take action. Without awareness nothing can be accomplished. Focus is placed on spreading awareness not only in India but around the world as well. |
CLEAN UP
Organize individuals and groups in their efforts to restore the Ganga & Himalayas to their pristine nature and further preventing it's pollution is a great cause. Campaigning to the government and local officials to take immediate steps towards preserving this magnificent river include: permanently ceasing any hydroelectric damming of the river upstream; declaring the upper reaches of the Ganga to be a “no development zone” in light of its ecological fragility and heritage significance; proactively cleaning up the river downstream, and prosecuting all unlawful industrial and domestic polluters; banning polythene at all sites of spiritual pilgrimage and prohibiting vehicles from travelling to sensitive places of pilgrimage further upstream; and prohibiting environmentally unsound development along the banks of the river to protect the river and maintain its natural flow. |
LOCAL PARTNERS
It is impossible to create lasting change without enlisting the help of local residents, authorities and organizations that are inspired to support and enforce efforts for change. Apart from handling major environmental cases MC Mehta is working actively to create environmental awareness through seminars, conferences, tree plantation and field actions at the grass roots level. Subsequent environmental awareness programs are held in cities and towns along the major rivers like Ganga, Yamuna and Brahamani by involving the local people, school/ college students, NGOs, officials and concerned citizens. |
